For the Love of Cardi B.

For the Love of Cardi B.

Believe it or not, there are a number of people who do not like Cardi B. Can you believe it? Like me, you’re probably wondering who are these miserable souls? I’m not sure if it’s mostly men or mostly prude women, but these folks exist. Could their number one gripe be that Cardi isn’t a lyricists? Really? In 2017 we’re still judging by lyrics? Didn’t the importance of Hip-Hop lyrics die in 2000 with Nelly and “Country Grammar”? No judgement . . . I’m just saying.

Aside from the Love & Hip Hop drama and lip smacking, Cardi is currently one of my favorite celebrities for a number of reasons. Shall I list my top three?

  1. Her glow up is too real – Her rags to riches story is inspiring. From the projects to luxury buildings and gated communities in less than 3 years? Hella Dope!
  2. Her honesty is glorious – Cardi says whatever the hell she is thinking. That’s a freedom that not many people exercise.
  3. Cardi is true to herself – from the days of pre-dental care she has remained consistent with her message; If you don’t like it, fuck off.

I’ve followed Cardi before her Love and Hip Hop stint and was a fan of her social media videos. I mean, who else is telling “fuck boys” where to go and what to leave behind? Well, Trina is, I suppose. Nonetheless, no one is as funny while doing it. Cardi is undoubtedly a gem. She can teach us all about the reward for being true to yourself regardless of being teased, degraded, or whatever else miserable internet trolls do.

My favorite Cardi B quote, “you (hating) bitches out here smelling like belly buttons and earring backs.” HA! Classic clapback.

I’m pretty sure this won’t be my last Cardi B. post. I’m on stan mode.
